Dental implants in Poland: costs, clinics and what to expect

Poland trades a smaller saving for a two-hour flight and EU regulation. What that trade actually buys a UK or German patient.

Poland offers a smaller headline saving than Turkey — around 65 per cent rather than 72 — but the comparison is not only about price. Kraków and Wrocław are a little over two hours from London and under two from Frankfurt, and Polish clinics operate inside EU medical device and data protection rules.

For a treatment that requires two trips several months apart, flight time and cost compound. A patient making two return trips from the UK will often find the total outlay for Poland and Turkey closer than the per-implant prices suggest.

What you will actually pay

Compared against private rates in the UK, Western Europe and the Gulf. Most of our readers travel from one of those three, so measure the saving against your own market rather than ours.

Your trip, day by day

1

Visit 1 · Day 1

Imaging, consultation and written plan. Polish clinics tend to itemise more thoroughly than the packaged Turkish model.

2

Visit 1 · Day 2

Implant placement. Local anaesthetic; sedation available at extra cost.

3

Visit 1 · Days 3–4

Post-operative check and discharge summary. Cleared to fly from day 2 in most straightforward cases.

4

Months 1–5

Healing at home. EU patients can have interim checks locally more easily than with non-EU treatment.

5

Visit 2 · Days 1–4

Abutment, impressions, crown fitted and adjusted.

What to weigh before you book

Poland's advantage is regulatory rather than clinical: EU rules on medical devices, record-keeping and data protection apply, and the GDPR position for a UK or EU patient is simpler than for treatment outside the EEA. That matters if you ever need to obtain your records.

The disadvantage is that fewer Polish clinics run the full patient-logistics operation Turkish hospitals have built. You are more likely to arrange your own hotel and transfers, and coordinator availability outside office hours is thinner.

How to choose between clinics

Check the clinic is registered with the Polish Chamber of Physicians and Dentists and ask for the treating dentist's registration number. Ask specifically whether the crown is made in-house or outsourced, and how many days the lab needs — that determines the length of your second trip.

Frequently asked questions

Is Poland cheaper than Turkey once travel is included?

Often, for UK and German patients making two trips. The implant costs roughly £140 more, but return flights are typically £200 cheaper per trip and hotel nights are fewer. Run the total for your own city rather than trusting either headline.

Does the EHIC or GHIC cover treatment in Poland?

No. The GHIC covers medically necessary state care, not planned private dental treatment. It may help if you develop an unrelated emergency while there.

Can I get my records if something goes wrong?

Yes, and this is a genuine advantage. GDPR gives you a right of access to your medical records from an EU clinic, which is more straightforward to enforce than the equivalent outside the EEA.

What language will the surgeon speak?

English is standard in clinics serving international patients, but confirm the surgeon speaks it directly rather than only the coordinator. Consent given through a third party is worth less if a dispute follows.

How long is the second trip?

Usually four days, driven by lab turnaround for the crown. Ask before booking — some clinics need five.
